Border Protection Command intercepts vessel - 21 July 2010

HMAS Broome, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, this evening intercepted a suspected irregular entry vessel north of Flying Fish Cove, Christmas Island.
 
Initial indications suggest there are 43 passengers and two crew on board.
 
The vessel was boarded north of Flying Fish Cove and was escorted by HMAS Broome to Flying Fish Cove.
 
The group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security, identity and health checks and their reasons for travel will be established.
