Border Protection Command intercepts vessel - 22 August 2010

ACV Triton, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, boarded a suspected irregular entry vessel north-west of Ashmore Islands late yesterday.

Initial indications suggest there are 23 passengers and two crew on board.

The group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security, identity and health checks and their reasons for travel will be established.
