Customs and Border Protection Media Release

Border Protection Command boards vessel - 15 December 2010

Officers from HMAS Pirie, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, detected a suspected irregular entry vessel north west of Rocky Point, Christmas Island and boarded it yesterday afternoon.

Initial indications suggest there are eight passengers and three crew on board the vessel.

The group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security, identity and health checks and their reasons for travel will be established.
