BORDER PROTECTION COMMAND BOARDS VESSEL - 21 December 2010

Officers from HMAS Glenelg, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, boarded a suspected irregular entry vessel north east of Flying Fish Cove this morning.

Initial indications suggest there are 68 passengers and two crew on board the vessel.

The group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security, identity and health checks and their reasons for travel will be established.
