Qualifications
The minimum educational requirement for the Customs and Border Protection Graduate Trainee Program is a bachelor degree that is recognised in Australia.
A recognised degree is one completed at an Australian tertiary institution, or an overseas degree that has been formally recognised by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR). Please note that, if you have an overseas degree, it is your responsibility to gain recognition through NOOSR at your own cost. NOOSR offers a general information and referral service on overseas skill recognition which can be accessed on 1800 020 086 or on the NOOSR website
In relation to the IT Graduate Trainee Program, Customs and Border Protection is specifically looking for candidates with an IT specific bachelor degree with relevant skills and experience.
The Graduate Trainee Program has no preferred disciplines. Accounting, Arts, Asian Studies, Commerce, Criminology, Education, international Studies, Law, Management and Science are some of the qualifications of recent candidates, Customs and Border Protection are seeking recent graduates (including graduates completing a bachelor degree in December of 2010) with qualifications that demonstrate high-level research, analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills.
Other mandatory entry requirements
Applicants must be Australian citizens.
Applicants must pass a medical examination and obtain a security clearance to Secret level before the commencement of the program.
Minimum age for applicants is 18 years.
Current Customs and Border Protection employees may apply for the program provided their educational requirements meet the program criteria.
