standardised data set project - information forums

Information forums were held for both industry stakeholders and government stakeholders on the 3rd and 4th of March 2005 respectively. In connection with these forums, Australian Customs hosted visits from three international experts on trade data harmonisation:

• Mr Bill Nolle - US Customs and Border Protection
• Mr Dietmar Jost - World Customs Organisation
• Mr Eric Sunstrum - Canada Border Services Agency

These events contained presentations on the goals, scope and progress of the project to date and also featured international case studies on data harmonisation projects being undertaken or completed by the US and Canadian governments. An additional presentation was also given on the development of the WCO Data Model which will be the international benchmark for the Standardised Data Set.
