Australian SmartGate kiosk decommissioned in NZ

Customs and Border Protection decommissioned its Australian SmartGate kiosk at Auckland International Airport on 24 October 2012.  To continue to self-process, please use the SmartGate kiosk and gate on arrival in Australia.

SmartGate access to be expanded

An additional 20 SmartGate terminals will be installed at Australian international airports by 2014. The additional terminals are expected to boost uptake of SmartGate usage and enable more eligible passengers to get through passport control using their ePassport rather than queuing to have their passport stamped.

SmartGate now available to 16 and 17 year olds

Australian and New Zealand ePassport holders aged 16 and 17 years are now eligible to use SmartGate. The new eligibility criteria for using SmartGate came into effect on 18 January 2012.
