Small/Medium Enterprises (SME)
A Liaison position was created in January 2007 in response to a recommendation in the Joint Study of the Administration of Australia's Anti-Dumping System which was commissioned by the Ministers of Justice and Customs and Industry, Tourism and Resources in response to concerns of Australian manufacturers about the effectiveness of the current system. Stakeholder submissions to the joint study indicated the SMEs are particularly disadvantaged in the application process, as they lack the resources and procedural understanding required.
SMEs are defined as firms with less than 200 full time equivalent employees and/or less than $10 million turnover (ABS). SMEs can be industry, importer or exporter firms. The Liaison officer will advise SMEs on how to lodge an application, the investigative process and provide general assistance.
