About us
The CCTV Advisory Service has been established by Customs to meet the requirements of the airports industry for a central repository of information and advice about:
- CCTV technology and its operation,
- the use of and access to that technology, and
- any legal impediments to its use.
The Advisory Service has been implemented in response to "An Independent Review of Airport Security and Policing for the Government of Australia" which was conducted by the Rt Hon Sir John Wheeler DL in September 2005. A range of projects were initiated in response to the recommendations. The establishment of an Airports CCTV Advisory Service is one of those projects.
Customs consulted with the airports industry through interviews and forums about their requirements for an advisory service. This website has been set up as the key method for providing CCTV advice to the airports industry sector.
CCTV Advisory Services aims to provide relevant CCTV information that will assist small and large airport operators in their use of CCTV. At the same time the website will provide a range of links to other sites where CCTV information can be found. In particular, there are links to Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation about CCTV use.
You can contact the Advisory Service via the website, email, telephone or write to us.
